club seasons win via my offers....real?

  • Hi - I received a letter today having previously declined their offer which I won in a competition through the local newspaper.

I would like to point out that nowhere in my letter does it state that I have won a holiday. I have won Clubseasons membership worth £3750. I have been offered a 7 night holiday for £252.75 for 4 people and a free of charge bonus break. I have recently been trawling the net for a holiday cottage in the peaks and was astounded at the cost - over £400 in high season - so this looks to be a good deal at least for the first year.

I am going to pursue this if I am satisfied that I am not tied into a long term contract where I have to pay the maintenance charge each year.

I have read the posts on this forum and others and have to say that no one has convinced me where the scam is. The only people who have taken up the offer have good things to say about it where the people who are negative are those who threw the letter into a bin.

The letter also states in bold and underlined that "we are also offering you a 100% money back guarantee if you are not entirely satisfied with your experience upon returning from your first 7 night holiday".
  • Good for you. Which place(s) are you going to?

H Gill10stars, welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy it here as much as I do.

As its your first post I'll be gentle with you. Whereabouts in the UK are you? You're very lucky to get a postal delivery on a Sunday at bank holiday weekend.

When you contact clubseasons to check out your prize, can you ask them, what's the minimum amount of money you have to spend to make use of your "free membership" win, say, just the hire of 1 tennis court once, at a resort close to your home (so no accomodation). Also, can you ask for a published list of winners for last year and this year (so we know how many prizes they award) & how many people take up their 'prize'.

O & BTW, can you ask them where we can review any independent research into their customer satisfaction.

If anyone else is really bored, there was an article in yesterday's Independent magazine into counterfeit UK, quite interesting para towards the end.

  • Whoops!! Simple explanation is that I returned home this morning from a couple of nights away so I didn't ACTUALLY receive my letter this morning - it came yesterday but as I opened it this morning I felt as if I had received it today!

I have done some research on the internet and my feeling on this is that the first year offer is just the bait to lure you into upgrading your membership to get 'better' weeks. It seems that the base membership only entitles you to green weeks which are Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb so probably not worth taking up year on year.

It is also amusing to see that so many people have recieved their letters at this time of year i.e. school holidays are over. The short break on offer must be taken by February 2008.

This is probably a new slant on the 'we will give you 7 days free holiday and all we ask is that you attend one of our presentations'. However from what I have heard the presentation isn't hard sell. I could be wrong.

    Interesting information on

  • Hi to anyone reding this, its my 1st 'post' so I'm bit nervous!.:o
Like most of you I received my 'Congatulations' letter, and after checking this site, I decided to ring the number just to see! A pleasant lady asked for my address details and then if I/we owned or rented the property, as soon as I said rented, her attitude changed and I was told I 'DIDN'T QUALIFY' for my 'prize'. Surely that is discrimination, and says something about you having to take a long time committment. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on this.
  • I drove 20 mile round trip to post office to pick up Recorded Delivery letter from Clubseasons saying I'd won prize to value of £3750. Rang the number on letter and was asked if I was homeowner, that alerted me straight away. The maintenance fee is £252.75 ('Gesture of Goodwill') Ha ha!! Good mind to send them a bill for my wasted petrol. Can't believe that Linda Robson and other 'celebrity' endorses this kind of thing. A prize to me means I don't have to cough up any money. TTFN
