I would like to send money on a monthly basis to a small charity in Cambodia. The current method is via Western Union. I would like to find a way of avoiding fees. Any advice?

They are probably supported by a main-stream charity in the UK (Oxfam or the like) so if you can just give to one of their major donors that might be more efficient. So ask them which agencies in the UK support them. You could also help them by writing (briefly) about what they do and why you think they deserve your support, and sending that letter to the projects departments of the charities hear that you think might be interested.
Otherwise, the standard answer is https://www.xe.com (actually owned by Western Union, but possibly no fees or at worst a ten dollar wire transfer fee).0 -
