Help me find a cheaper broadband package.

Please can you help me find a cheaper fibre optic broadband package than I am already using, because Comparison Websites are confusing me?!

At the moment I am on Broadband L (up to 30MB) with Virginmedia. No phone line. Just broadband. I pay via DD so I pay £23.65 per calendar month. I have been with them for nearly 3 years now and I am happy with their service. But now that I find myself unemployed I have to start cutting my cloth.

Note: I don't have a credit card nor do I know anyone who would be willing to do this so I can switch.

Can't Virginmedia put me on a limited package or something? I asked them about this but they just said there isn't one. That cannot be right.

Thanks in advance.

    Why fiber and not ADSL?

You can't have any other service than VM without a BT-based line, so you'll have to factor in the install cost of the new line (or reconnection) There are no other cable providers.
If £23.65 is stretching your finances then you really can't afford fibre.

30mb is the slowest virgin do for fibre.

to save money u'll need to switch over to adsl and use the phone line. U'll need to factor in the price of the line rental as well.

i assume you dont currently have any landline ?

Since line rental on ADSL is typically £14.50, then you're not going to really save any money by switching to ADSL by the time you've added a basic broadband tariff to that.

another thing you could try is ring up virgin and say you're thinking of cancelling, and see if they can offer a discount
