Bosch dishwasher not filling

Options
Yesterday I pulled out my Bosch dishwasher to fix a leak from the waste hose. I think moving it around may have disturbed something as it will not fill with water now. If I pour water in, it will drain it when switched on, but not fill.

Any ideas on what I can try?

You may have inadvertently moved the isolation valve for the water supply to the off position.

It should look something like this:

Or perhaps you may have kinked the water inlet pipe?

Just in case it helps anyone else, I found the problem was that the leak had got into the base of the machine and this was preventing it from filling. I tilted the dishwasher back about 45 degrees and some water drained out. After that it would fill and run as normal again.

It has a safety float switch in the base & when the base is full like yours the float switch will activate and not let the mc fill
You might find it may happen again, if it does it maybe because of component failure, eg leaking pump motor inlet valve, or another common one is the side fill chamber get full of crud and will overfill and the water eject out of a small hole from the chamber into the base.

More likely to be this solenoid operated valve

which will prevent water flowing if either of the anti flood float switches (usually one in base and one inside) as described by other posters have operated.

    Cheers

Further to the above sometimes these solenoid valves fail. The insides are simple enough to replace if you know what you are doing and can follow instructions.

If the machine is on and expecting water but there is no water flowing and the valve is emitting a humming noise then it has failed.

    Cheers

  • This happened to us and I strongly suspect that it was simply that the inlet hose kinked when I pushed the machine back into place, as it started working again after it was pulled out and then stopped when it was pushed back in. Try pulling out the machine and turn it on and see if it starts again. If anyone has any tips about how to push a dishwasher into place without the hose kinking, I'd be glad to see them! (Google searches were unproductive.)

Hook a piece of stiff wire or similar around the hose to lift it while you are pushing the d/w back in. That prevents it kinking or getting trapped under the chassis.

Thanks for all the replies. There was no problem with the water supply, I think what had happened was that water got into the base of the machine after running down the outside of the inlet hose (the leak I had it out to fix was at the Y-piece at the top of the hose).

It's now been through four or five cycles working perfectly normally.
