This depends on the phones. For smartphones it's usually synching with a PC or an online account. Apps have to be reinstalled if they are compatible with the new phone.0

if your phone is rooted its incredibly easy with an app such as titanium backup.
just back up all your apps to the SD card in titanium back up
insert the SD card into your new phone and run titanium back up on your new phone, select restore apps+data ( don't select system data!!)
everything will be ported over including game saves, app settings the lot just as you had it on your old phone.0 -
SuperBackup from Google Play will move everything, and you don't need root for it to work.

Mrs B has a Huawei G300 running (ICS). I have a Nexus 4 running jellybean
Mine 'auto' backs up to my google+ a/c, but Mrs B's doesn't
Can anyone guess why?0 -
Because Mrs B's isn't set to auto backup in the settings, or Huawei have removed it?
The auto backup doesn't actually back up that much anyway.
Helium Backup is a good option for moving phones.0
