Why can't I see the files?

Recover (J) 19.1GB free of 29.9GB
(K) 70.3MB of 99.9GB
Got Recuva to show ignored files.....there's an entry that states...
SBadClus.....102396KB. I'm assuming that's bad clusters.Herman - MP for all!

Odd, when I expand the picture On my ipad it looks like
70.3MB of 99.9MB for K
The units definitely look different for J and K. Must be my eyes.

So how big is this laptop drive and do you know how much was used/free and how it was partitioned?0
-
The laptop was a 320GB in total (Hitachi drive....http://www.drivemylaptop.co.uk/LaptopDriveDetails.aspx?p=1995).
I don't know exactly how much was free but I would guess at around 50%. I had cleared some stuff off the lappy a month or so ago.
I had never partitioned it...it was as it was from new. The Recovery partition was there from new and I never saw/touched that.Herman - MP for all!

Have you tried looking at Local drive E as it would seem that's where the majority of stuff must be or is that not associated with the 320GB drive in the caddy?0
-
I can't access that at all. When I click on it, a blank window opens and everything hangs.Herman - MP for all!

Would I be right that you don't normally have an E drive on the host laptop you are attaching this caddied drive to and therefore the E drive is part of the caddied drive?
i.e. if you detach the caddy E, J and K will all disappear.0 -
Yes.
When I plug the laptop drive (in the caddy) into the main host pc (desktop now), 3 drives show up. I do not know why this is.
E - just a picture of a drive, no info about size etc, does nothing when clicked on (Completely blank window opens and window hangs, takes ages to close, shows 'non responsive message')
J - Recovery drive, has info about size, can see the files (all system stuff, drivers etc)
K - Has info about size, states there are files on there but clicking open opens a window that states file folder empty. Recuva showed info about bad clusters on this partition.Herman - MP for all!

Can you right click on the E drive and choose properties and see if it reports anything about size?0
