extraorinary circumstances

I have completed the template for compensation for an 8 hours Jet2 Flight delay (LS271 Leeds to Alicante)and like very many other people have been told that it was extraordinary circumstances in the form of "unexpected flight safety shortcoming"
Clearly I don't know what the real delay was caused by so any thoughts on where I should go from here?

I would ask for (much) more detail. It's impossible to assess from those 4 words whether it might be extraordinary circumstances or not. If that was all they said on the matter, I think they are being deliberately obtuse.

be better posting on the Jet2 thread, many there with the same response. Also read the FAQs at the start of the thread on what to do next

1. Put this in Jet2 thread.
2. Put Jet2 to task regarding the precise and full details of the cause of the delay (was the delay to your plane or its previous flight?)
This is a standard bovine excrement response from Jet2 - every delay they have appears to be EC.
Be prepared to start legal proceedings and go to court
