i am edging towards buying a matress for it as baby will be in it to stay at mams which will b every few weeks.
If it is going to be used that frequently, you may be as well to get a proper cot (if your mum has the room). A basic cot can be bought new for not much more than an average travel cot (particularly if you do end up buying an extra mattress). Have a look at online suppliers like www.kiddicare.com and www.nurseryandtoys.com (they offer a free mattress with any cot or cot-bed). Argos also sell basic cots quite cheaply.
I used a travel cot on hire for a holiday a few years ago and didn't feel that they seemed particularly comfy for a baby. We ended up adding a folded-up duvet at the bottom and tucking that round as extra padding.0 -

Been there, done this. Just buy a cot or toddler bed seriously.
I paid £40 for a travel cot/playpen thing which was useless once DS was about 18 months old as he just put a knee into the mesh and lift himself over.
Then i used a Babyden, whith padding on the floor as he was too young to sleep in a normal bed yet (£70).
Then he had a Ready bed £35 which is too small for him now at 1m 5cm but only just turning 3 years old.
Most recent purchase has been a blow up single matress costing £15.
With the money i spent i could have bought a toddler cot bed and matress origionally like he has at home and still sleeps in."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of."
