Portman easy access isa reaches dizzy heights ( not)

now 5.50 on 1000+ ( higher than nationwides instant access isa though)

many are trapped in this isa ( from last years 8% monthly saver) until nationwide takeover is completed then can transfer out for 60 days with no transfer fee ( currently 30,00 to transfer out)

So wait until September when Portman turns into Nationwide, when there'll be no £30 transfer out fee = 4% interest June-August if you've only got £3K invested.

    1% if you've got £12K

    0.5% if you've got £24K.

It's best for everyone to wait until September, especially as you could still jeopardise your £200+ windfall by withdrawing money now.

And in the meantime it's not such a bad rate.

absolutely correct, just that i know many have been itching to transfer out since april 6th 2007, i was mainly passing on the rate increase info and transfer out info.

re the "august" thing, most merger payments have been sent right on the promised "28 days" following transfer of engagements for apparent reasons so nobody should expect nationwide merger payments until the last permissible date in september, if someone says well hey they have to get the postings out, simple all the postings are packed with cheques etc and held until the last possible date to post out, expect a friday post out as well and dont be suprised if the merger cheques are sent second class post ;)

more unsuprising news from nationwide
