We're currently paying £620 pcm in rent, with a mortgage we'd be paying 400-500 per month, and thats if we borrowed the full 94k,

Not a meaningful comparison. Couple of things spring to mind. Interest rates could rise 2% to 3% in the future. Property requires maintenance, this is one of the joys of ownership. Boilers, replacement windows and the like don't come cheap.
  • I'm aware that there are inevitable maintenence costs involved with home ownership, but I doubt it would equate to 100 -150 a month. Besides, we'd be continually putting money aside for such eventualities.

We've also decided that were going with a fixed rate mortgage. Can't be doing with the hassle of variable.

If I were you, I'd make appointments with mortgage advisers at Nationwide (in branch or on the phone) to discuss it rather than doing a mortgage online. If you have accounts with them, I am sure they will look into everything and try to help.
