Barclaycard/ FOS taking forever!

Hiya,

Kinda put it on the back burner for a bit but while i'm having a paperwork sort-out-afternoon just thought i would check the last communication with FOS over my barclaycard complaint, i had an email at the end of April over a couple of queries they had but since then i've heard nothing and in total my complaint has now been with the FOS since last April (April 2012!) thats now a 15 months!

Is it really taking that long? Am I the only one still waiting?!

Yes, it's really taking that long. You could phone and ask for an update, but personally, I wouldn't bother for a few months.

Eighteen months and more is typical.

My other half put his claim into FOS November 2011, it was upheld 6th Feb this year, and we are still waiting for an offer, was meant to take 8 weeks!!

Looks like I could be waiting a while then!

Is it just Barclaycard dragging their heels, they seem to be the worst organised..or are they just hanging on to our money?

The FOS did contact me and told me that Barclaycard had been in touch and said that I held the card for 15 years, which means I think that it could be a potentially large payment, that's probably why it's taking so long!

Oh well...

It's not the amount, it's whether they think it was missold. If Barclays disagree with the adjudicators decision, , it will go past the adjudicator stage to an ombudsman, and that will take longer still.

I have got 3 with the FOS

1 for Halifax since Sept 2012 not heard anything

1 for Barclaycard since Jan 2013 again not heard anything

1 for EGG (now barcaycard) since feb 2013 , heard last week the have upheld and recommend barclaycard to pay out so now waiting to see if they will but after reading many things barclaycard still reject so maybe still wont get a claim

So maybe its not in a queuing system after all as the other 2 havent even been looked at when I asked FOS.

I've had my complaint for barclaycard with fos since 1st may 12, I phoned them last week for an update and was told they were still waiting for someone to pick my complaint up, I got a letter of fos on Saturday dated the same day id phoned them, to say barclays wanted to make me an offer to settle my complaint, but it will take them 8 weeks to calculate the amount

calw: I too had the letter from FOS saying BC were going to make an offer. After 2 weeks of their letter the acceptance is automatically made by them, and BC's linked spreadsheet should be updated. In the letter it says BC ask for upto 8 weeks, but in reality it will be about 12 due to backlog (according to convo I had yesterday with BC - my acceptance was 10/5/13, so now at 8 weeks and no offer). not much to do but wait

I've had a Barclaycard claim with FOS since Sept 2011 and only heard from them last month upholding my complaint. Now BC have agreed to pay up and am now waiting the long wait to hear how much they will offer. It's 2 years since I made the original complaint to BC. Slowly slowly getting there. But FOS have given me a direct telephone number to BC so I can chase them up anytime I want now.
