Roaming in Channel Islands - any suggestions?
Due to OH's fear of flying, we're spending our honeymoon in Jersey (Channel islands, not America!) this August. We're both T Mobile customers on contracts, although I have an unlocked iPhone 5 (Bought direct from Apple, so shouldn't have locked itself to T Mobile), while he is using an iPhone 3GS bought from Chitter Chatter. I'm not sure whether it's locked to T Mobile, as I understood it had been sourced from Germany, back in the days when O2 had the monopoly on 3GS handsets and T Mobile had to smuggle them in 
Our phones will be needed while we're there. I have elderly parents who have very erratic health, and we communicate daily using text messages. I'm down as their Next Of Kin on their hospital records. We also have TomTom on our phones, which uses data, along with the usual data gobblers like Facebook and Picasa. OH may go crazy if he can't check the BBC Sport website too :rotfl:
What's going to be the cheapest way of using our phones there? I've looked into roaming costs with T Mobile, and I'm a bit baffled. I can buy a "Euro Talk & Text" booster for £5 for the month, but that won't cover data. I can't find any helpful information on data usage outside GB. All I can find is "If you try to use data abroad, you'll be sent to the Buy Data page, where you can select the amount you want". My head is spinning.
I could try and get a local nano-SIM, but I'm not sure how to go about that. I am open to it if it's an option though.
