Which card to get

grateful for advice on when to time my credit card application. I have a (normal) Halifax credit card with £400 balance outstanding. I currently pay off the full balance every month as its used for day to day purchases and I wanted to build up my credit rating as I will be applying for a mortgage in September 2013.

I am now looking to get the Halifax credit card with the 17 month 0% offer. My question is when to do this. If I apply before my mortgage application will this complicate the process or adversely impact my credit score? Is it better for me to wait until I have sorted the mortgage before applying? Would it affect the amount I was offered?

thanks

KS :)
