Balance refund on pay as you go

Don't think any of the networks refund on payg (its in the T&C's somewhere).
If they did you could just reuse the same credit over and over...0 -
As Jon said you need to use it up before you go to another network
It will be in the t&c of your provider some were.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
You can get up to 60% back by selling the credit.

Could you just text the balance to your favourite charity as a donation? I've never used this method to donate, but I've seen adverts.
Obviously you don't get any benefit (other than feel-good), but the balance isn't "wasted" if it goes to charity.
I sometimes have to buy PAYG credit when I buy a PAYG phone, which I then unlock and use with another other provider, leaving me with a sim with credit that I don't end up using. Is it that simple to just text the credit to a charity?0 -
If you have any need for "data" for a tablet or other device then T-Mobile's 6 Month Internet booster is fairly good value for money at £20 for 6 Months. Their data network is a bit patchy at the moment but perhaps you or someone you know can use the credit up in this way.
Are you in credit by £50 or more ?0 -
If you have an Android phone, you can use up the credit in the Google Play store and use it to buy music, apps, etc. That's often the best way. The details are in the link posted above by d123.0

Wife and I are both on Orange's Racoon PAYG tariff and I'm moving to the new 321 PAYG from Three which is much better value but has required me to get an unlocked 3G handset.
Anyway Orange have let me transfer my credit to wife's number and I'm about to transfer my Orange number to my Three 3G handset after Orange supplied me with the applicable free PAC code.
I've had the same mobile number since joining Orange in 1999 and needed to keep it to avoid loads of hassle and loss of earnings. Being an agency driver I get all my work via my mobile phone.
I assume other networks also allow the transfer of credit between accounts on the same network.Never trust a financial institution.

I moved from a PAYG to a 30 day SIM only contract on Three and was able to transfer the PAYG credit to the contract. However, if you leave the network their terms and conditions usually mean the loss of unused credit.
As others have said, use it via a premium rate text message to donate it to a charity or buy something with it. You could even use it to pay for parking.0 -
We tend to save up all of our unused SIMs and donate to TV appeals like Comic Relief or Childline. It's also worth chucking a spare handset in the car in case you're ever caught out with a flat battery.0
