well if your not using it

and your neighbours aren't using it

    your figures are wrong

How can we get the figures checked independently?
EDF are not going to do anything about it.
I have turned everything off in the house and the gas and lecy meters are not moving, so its not as though someone else's is connected to our supply.

    Do you recommend smart meters?

double check your readings and make sure they are actual readings not estimates

Since it is very unlikly that your gas and electric meters are both faulty, I would recomend you start trying to work out what is using the resource.

Start taking reads as often as you can. I would recomend at least every hour.

Then look for high use and work out what you are using when the excessive use occurs.

the electric meter was read on 20th June and showed 47110 it currently reads 47344, thats 234 higher in 10 days.

Im going to check my meter readings every couple of hours.
We do have a mixer shower direct from the gas boiler.
I always get annoyed at the length of time I have to run a tap to get any water, it takes an age, yet the gas is blazing as soon as the tap is turned on, the water goes all over the house before it gets to the tap and when I turn it off the pipes are full of hot water that doesnt get used.

My missus says everyone with a combi has that problem.

Im on the EDF blue promise thingmebob and my last bill was extortionate - considering I work all day and live on my own. I have never ever been in debit with them in all the years. I shall be looking further afield. I have actually been very loyal (that accounts for nowt) but that loyalty was for nothing. For all their fancy ads and little blobby things they can whistle.

My direct debit has jumped as well. Talk about being a sitting target.

They have also given us an estimated bill for the next 12 months which comes to £2,554.66
we are currently (according to EDF" £750 in arrears now even adding those two figures together doesn't warrant a £450 a month DD
We would end up paying £5400 for the year?????

They must pull these numbers out of their asses, where on earth do they get £453 from?
They continually increase the DD yet we are NEVER in credit, they just say, "oh you have used more this year"
We have decided to pay off the arrears and go with someone else who can provide a smart meter or at least a readable bill.
I am going to do weekly readings as well on both meters.

    !!!!!!. :D
