Any closer to finding a suspect?
Have spread the rumour that someone might be damaging cars in the area, the primary suspect moved out 2 days before.
My GF has told the nosey old folk next door that i'm setting up a camera, so word should spread fast, so whoever might have done it, will now know that behind every net curtain in the street might be a witness lurking, which should not only make them think twice next time, but also wind them up enormously
I'd rather leave it like that and keep everyone on their toes, than actually catch anyone.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Must be the weather for strangeness or strange people.
My driver side front window mysteriously shattered overnight/morning at about 3:30am.
There was no one obviously "about", no other damage to the car, nothing was taken and the position of the car on the drive made it unlikely it was a theft attempt as the passenger side was more readily accesible (for a quick grab and scarper).
I know tempered glass can misbehave in some instances but i'm not sure what the likely cause is.
Bigger issue has been getting a replacement as it isn't widely carried.0 -

Scrap yard will probably have one, paid £5 last time.

Out of interest, is the Pilkington glass any good? I had a replacement screen by autoglasss whicih was Pilkington and looking through it on a slight angle (as one does when driving) was like looking through a crazy glass - all wobbles and wrinkles - distorting whatever I was looking at. Now i know all screens are like this to some extent due to the curvature but this was ridiculous! Made them change it to a genuine manufacturer one, which they agreed to without too much fuss.
Put me off ever getting a replacement Pilkington one again.0 -

Haven't noticed anything like that, can't really fault it so far, the only thing im nervous of is possible leaking, but that's always possible when windscreens are replaced.... Hell even the manufacturers get it wrong sometimes :rotfl:“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

STRIDER, as a windscreen fitter for at least 17year i can guarantee that the damage on your windscreen was caused by a stone, nothing else period. hope this stops your witch hunt for a vandal, the vandal is the stone0

Pretty sure Pilkington are now really just a brand for a huge global glass firm. Good brand and a lot of customers but not the UK based firm they were. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

The guy who fitted the screen, said it could be either, but that it was strange that the large crack appeared suddenly and then only grew by about half an inch per day after that.
And erm.... It's not a "witch hunt", I said right from the beginning that IDGAF, but given the cold war that's been brewing over parking, it doesn't hurt to be vigilant.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
