revert the pension age to 60/65

I think the government has stolen money from me by forcing me into a pension fund from which I doubt I will ever benefit - millions of others too
I want the ages reversed to 60/65 or a lump sum repayment for all contibutions
anyone agree

The government hasn't forced you into any pension scheme. What are you referring to - NEST or the state pension age? If it's NEST you can opt out, although that would be foolish. If it's state pension your NI contributions don't just pay for a pension.

    Not with your rant, no.

However perhaps you would like to explain what you are referring to and your reasons for it?

Men aged 65 in 1950 had a life expectancy of about 12 years.

That is now about 21 years, and by 2040 it will be about 25 years.

People retiring now and in the next few years will have a State Pension age of up to 66, and 67 in about 10 years. That is still a huge expansion in expected retirement duration before death compared to when the system was implemented. Even females, who have seen an increase from age 60 (with lots of notice) will still be spending longer in retirement than when the system was implemented (15,24 and 27 and the corresponding figures for female life expectancy at 65).

Will you be accepting a life expectancy reduction of 10-15 years along with State pension age reversal?

Most of the developed world is in the process of increasing State Pension ages, generally to about 67.

There is the argument that the Government 'promised' that folk could retire at a particular age, and should honour that. That brings about the inter-generational argument - if you follow the logic of that argument, representatives of previous generations made unrealistic promises to themselves (including private sector DB pensions and public service pensions) which they expect future individuals to honour despite those same individuals paying for but not benefiting from similar arrangements. If I was one of those individuals (I'm a bit too old to be part of the generations taking most of the financial burden) I would be telling greedy pensioners and soon-to-be-pensioners to revise their expectations about how much of an inter-generational transfer it is reasonable for them to demand.

Yep the State Pension should revert to age 70, as it was when first introduced.

No. You have posted a load of rubbish.

No-one has forced you to do anything. No-one has stolen any money. The fact you say you won't see the money would suggest you are contemplating suicide. In which case, I suggest you contact the samaritans for help.

I bet the OP didn't expect the replies posted so far. :rotfl:

I would really love to have my State pension paid later this year when I reach 60.

But, I've known about the change for many years and understand the reasoning behind the need for change in State retirement age.

Sounds great, but who is going to pay for it?

EDIT: If you say the wealthy, well sorry but they are then likely to be off to places like the Algarve for their retirement.

It is very strange how some would prefer to retire with a pension at 65 and die at 85, rather than retire at say 68 and live until they are 93.

We didn't get the OP back to explain what he/she means, what has been stolen, why he/she wants a backward step.
