Thanks again, AA routeplanner gives 456 miles, Gainsborough to Paris and then I need to park etc.
Now sorting out dates and look for cheapest train fare before making a decision.

suggest you try a proper map instead of a bunch of clowns! Autoroute gives 397 miles by road, they of course omit the wet bit!

The Channel's got wider recently if the difference is 59 miles. Or does Autoroute not go via Dover?

So " Autoroute gives 397 miles by road, they of course omit the wet bit!" eh! Viamichelin (my favourite; http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/) beats that- buy only by one mile- but it will cost you £60-100+ in fuel and take a very long day to drive each way, quite apart from hassle of parking in Paris, so I'd let the train take the strain.

    And eat at Bofinger!

Just did it again with shorter route out of Gainsborough, AA 430 miles, 7hrs 20mins, so will look at car costs and throw that into the equation.

had you considered the ease and convenience of driving there? probably cheaper too.
Not once you've paid for parking for the weekend (and/or shortened your life trying to find a parking space :p )!

Just get the Eurostar. Take your collection in a big suitcase and pick a seat by the luggage rack so you can keep an eye on it.

Just check the prices for the Eurostar - it shouldn't be hideously expensive at this stage. Even booking 2 weeks before I needed tickets, in high season, I still managed to travel for under €100 return, so it's really extremely reasonable most of the time. Drops you off right in the centre of Paris too so you don't need to spend much on your onward journey (unlike arriving at the airport, which is miles away no matter how you look at it).
