Delivery in person to central Paris?

Your thoughts on this please.
I have a large heavy stamp collection to sell and have been advised that the best place is Ceres, 23 rue du Louvre - 75001 Paris.
I have spoken to them and they are keen to buy or put the collection in one of their auctions.
So as I am in Lincolnshire I am thinking of Eurostar to Paris, hotel for a night or two to see some sights and take the collection to Ceres.
Probably early September, so how to get best Eurostar price, Hotel near Ceres or cheaper one further out?
Thanks in advance.

You are already too late for the cheapest Eurostar prices I'm guessing - you can buy those tickets 4 months ahead so the very cheapest will already be gone. However, we're still a good while in advance so I'd book now.

Paris is replete with hotels and you will be able to find one to suit your budget and location. We usually rely on booking.com , but as we already live just outside of Paris, we can't pretend that our experience of hotels in this city is especially wide :p

had you considered the ease and convenience of driving there? probably cheaper too.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
  • By the time you've got to london to get the eurostar etc etc you could be just as well flying from EMA, Hand baggage only is enough luggage for a few days, check it out. https://www.skyscanner.net

But the OP deliberately uses the words "large" and "heavy", so hand luggage may not be feasible, and he's unlikely to want to put his valuable collection in checked baggage.

Some trains will have cheaper fares than others - there are likely to be some late night trains with cheap seats (and may save you a night in a hotel if you don't mind feeling like you've been beaten up for a day)

Thanks for all the ideas, flying may be possible, the main collection weighs 24kgs. Hadn't realised the train fares would go up so soon, any discount codes?
Driving is a possibility but it is too far,460 miles, to do safely in one go so would mean extra hotel nights en route.
What about hotel in Paris, any recommendations?

er, it's barely 400 even IF you're as far north as Scunny. And it's not all in one go, 2 hours on the boat is plenty for something to eat and drink then a good hours' kip, I do it often.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Paris really isn't too far to drive in one day - provided you take a couple of breaks for something to eat and to stretch your legs. As mentioned, the ferry will provide a good break from driving and you could perhaps do another short break at a services on your way to the port. I really don't think it's a long enough journey to require a night in hotel if you set off at a reasonable time.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

Flybe do Paris quite cheaply from EMA
An additional seat could always be booked for the outbound leg to keep the stamps with you.

Have you looked at the Eurostar fares? If you are flexible with dates as you are there are still some cheap fares even though you are a month into bookings. I've just bought Paris-London tickets on 21st September for 40 Pounds each.

Don't forget to get through tickets or CIV tickets in the UK to connect with Eurostar. They are very cheap and guarantee tickets on the next train if a delay causes you to miss a connection.
