It would still take you more than 10 minutes to get from Paddington to the City by bike. More like 30 minutes.

South Woodford is great for travel to the city and has some excellent primary schools.

It is but the alternative school round the corner has a better ofsted report this year and although very oversubscribed is easier to get in if you are in the catchment.

you are looking at mostly south east london or essex/east london borders with those requirements.

I would focus on train lines then spend some time visiting the areas, going into estate agents, getting details & then doing online & in person reviews. Places like Beckenham, Bromley, Orpington in the south london. kent border towns are all 20-30 mins into victoria, cannon street, london bridge, charing cross, blackfriars with excellent bus routes & trams in some parts. Debden, epping & surrrounding areas are all within similar distance on the Essex side. South London side all have excellent schools including grammars, not really sure about the Essex end.

Houses are probably cheaper essex side.
