Really cross.
Got back from vacating the house for a viewing - EA took it.
We had footprints all over our bed. A wet patch (hopefully drool and nothing else) on our silk cushion cover and things moved from sons bedroom into daughters bedroom and vice versa.
EA gave us feedback and said parents let 5 year old run wild - parents didn't even bother to curb her behaviour.
We now have a ruined cushion and hope that her shoe marks come out of the bedding.
I'd never let my kids do that and am shocked that anyone would.
Any horror stories from viewings? Could it have been worse?

Did you ask the EA why he/she didn't put a stop to this behaviour, or why they weren't asked to leave?
... and why didn't the EA tell you this in advance, rather than having you find out for yourself?0 -

Oh yes, much much worse.......
I used to be a negotiator working on new build developments. The
"General Public" can be inconsiderate, rude, obnoxious, dishonest, thieving, filthy and disgusting.................
Unfortunately the adults are usually worse than the children.
How about this little one.
One particular Sunday I was inundated with viewers and could not escort them all so had to allow some of them free reign around the the show complex.
A family went into one of my showhouses. The loo in the the master ensuite had no loo roll.
One of the family decided to defecate in the loo. He used his handkerchief to clean himself. Left it lying behind the pan for me to dispose of.........
I've had children running riot - when I asked the parents to supervise their children I was met with a barrage of foul language and abuse.
It has been known for people to have sex on showhouse beds.
Thefts from show-houses happen with monotonous regularity.
And people wonder why EA's and negotiators like to follow viewers around a property;)
I suggest you strongly complain to the EA in question. He/she should not have allowed the viewers to treat your home with such disrespect.0 -

Give the EA a kick up the backside, a very hard one, and complain in writing to their principal and ask them to tell me in writing what steps they will now take to prevent accompanied viewers from trashing the property..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I'm the other side of the story.
I thought this thread could have been about me :rotfl:
We have been viewing houses over the past few weeks and the second we walk through the front door its like a switch is flicked in our kids heads (two boys aged 2 and 4) and they just run riot.
Me and DH do everything we can to tell them off without embarrasing the sellers. Its a total nightmare and would be so much easier if i could leave them with someone but we dont always have that option. I know its not ideal and parents should control their kids but its so difficult when your trying to view a house and your kids just start being total pains in the bums.
I do sympathise with you and its not something you should have to put up with but its hard for the buyers to look round and try control the kids at the same time.
I have now taken to the tatic of sitting the boys in a corner and letting DH have a look around and then swapping over.Started 01/01/13 Swagbucks 2013 £30/£150

The quickest way I can think of to get a punch in the face!
or why they weren't asked to leave?

More fool the EAs who just put up with this sort of thing and ignore the rights of the vendor. Condoning appalling behaviour out of fear of thuggery? Why don't you just let them smash the windows, tear up the carpets and steal things?
You can report thugs to the Police you know?
You didn't mean to suggest that you are an incompetent EA did you?0 -

I did, seriously. If the homeowner isn't there to regulate the behaviour of their 'guests', it's down to their agent (who's acting on their behalf) to do so.0 -

Why can't one of you go in first, alone, leaving the kids outside or in your car? If you like the house, swap places with your OH.
Your kids are taking no part in the buying decision, therefore you shouldn't be dragging them through other folk's houses....0 -

I'm not sure who the 'you' is here, but I certainly suggest the OP's EA was lacking in not stepping up and speaking out.0
