How utterly adorable.
Oh no, wait, what's the other thing; irritating, destructive and a nuisance.
Control your children for Christ's sake.urs sinserly,

Absolute rubbish. You are the kind of parent who has no interest in disciplining their children. To say 'we do everything we can to tell them off' is poppycock. You clearly have no control and do not set boundaries. You are no doubt the same parents that let their children run riot in shops, supermarkets and worse, restaurants, and will be the same parents, who, when your children are in their teens and have a string of asbo's will be blaming teachers, social workers, key workers, support workers and health visitors for you children's bad behaviour while at the same time insisting that the police are wrong to arrest them.
Completely agree, this is the 'earth mother' generation who are just basically too lazy to discipline their children or won't incase it psychologically damages little tommy. I have a friend who when I visited them their two kids (6 & 7) tore around the house in a mini crime wave which was only stopped when they were bribed with sweets etc. on the other hand when visiting a relative of my wife's in India a couple of years ago, in a very poor household the kids of similar ages were well behaved and completely respectful.
It just goes to show the 'brat' generation we are raising in this country.0 -
Good job that all the children who accompanied the viewers who looked at my house where all well behaved. Where all these feral children, since I seem to fail to encounter any!0

Honestly some of the replies on this forum seem to be nothing short of disrespectful.
How you can make such detailed judgements about a fellow forum members parenting based on an obviously well intentioned post is remarkable.
This forum can be amazingly helpful but sometimes it is also a very intimidating and nasty place to visit.0 -

Yup, folks make comment on what the parents actually say here, without meeting them, and without knowing them as real people. Disgraceful, isn't it?

Going back to the OP, years ago I was selling my house (which was empty) and doing the viewings myself.
A couple came to view, and brought their extended family with them...so several extra adults and lots of children. As the house was empty I didn't have a problem with them all wandering around.
I went into one of the bedrooms on the first floor, and found that one of the boys had opened the window and climbed out onto the porch roof below. Yeah, I shouted, I ordered him back in, I told his parents to keep him under control...they weren't the slightest bit bothered - no concept that he could have been badly injured. Too busy discussing how they could possibly make the house nice, how they could change this and rip out that...very stressful as I was selling a much loved family home due to bereavement...these conversations should be out of the sellers earshot.
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Back in 1994 - my parents were selling their house. At least one of my parents were in the house at the time during viewings. The only EA escorted visit was a couple with a 8 year old kid. The kid switched on the TV and the SNES and happily played with my games. I knew it was played with as I had Earthworm Jim in the console before I left home and came home to Cool Spot!
How bloody cheeky!
When I was 9/10, my parents were planning to move 45 miles away from where we were living as my Dad worked there. I remember going to a few properties and just sat in the lounges of the properties and read a book. We never did the move. I cannot remember why.0 -
They like to have a root in the cupboards.
Toddler-height cupboards and drawers is where I keep the bleach and the kitchen knives, but aside from that, it'll be very amusing for everyone, I'm sure, when they root out someone's more private or adult items and run around the house with them.
Can't you at least keep hold of their hands?Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0 -
How could you possibly make this judgement for a small statement i wrote on a forum?
It was supposed to be a little light hearted, god forbid someone actually has a laugh on this site. I'm guessing you don’t have children them. I also meant “run riot” as a general term. Its not like the running around the place trashing it and screaming. They like to have a root in the cupboards and my youngest always seems to find the creaky floor boards and thinks they are hilarious.
I also meant by "we do everything we can do discipline them" by I don’t want to be smacking them in front of people who do not know us as in today’s days and age its classed as "abuse" and certainly would not set a good impression on the seller. But yeah they will end up with Asbos when they are teens, honestly :wall:
We don’t have a choice other than to take them with us, no everyone has “granny” living round the corner.
OP sorry for turning your thread into a slanging match.
Less a 'slanging match' and more a case of pretty much everyone on here telling you to learn how to discipline your children. By all means take them if you have no choice but control them so they're not touching things they have no blooming right to touch! :mad:0
