Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - over budget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

  • Well I'm going for spends of £50 this week but hoping to keep it below.

    Plans for the week.

    Sun - NSD
    Mon - NSD
Tues - out for lunch with baby ETO, friends and their children.
    Weds - NSD
    Thurs - NSD
    Fri - out for tea,
    Sat - NSD

Not sure ill be getting that many NSD's but in theory that's how the week should pan out. We are likely to need a small top up of groceries at some point, don't need petrol though so shouldn't be too spendy. Just need to stay away from baby clothes shopping. :D

Going for £0 again this week please ETO. I have nothing planned, and wont be spending any £ at all.
  • Hi ETO and everyone else!

Thanks for the new thread. last week I was GREEN with a spend of £25.28. As this week is meeting heavy i suspect I will want supplies. Going to pitch down again to £20. Try and be conservative!

Have a great week all, good luck!

  • Hi everyone! Thanks for the thread ETO, good luck with all your NSDs!

I've had a v lazy day today, except for doing my food shop (counted in the grocery challenge) so my red from last weekly luckily hasn't got even more in the red!

I am going to put myself up for £75.00 this week:

Tomorrow: Trip to the zoo, entry plus a bit for potential spends £20.00
Monday: plan to buy some household gumpf, new coffee table, bath towels £40.00
    Tuesday: Pub, £10.00
Thursday: aquazumba (if I actually get there!)£5.00

Am off to a BBQ next Saturday but I have booze and ingredients for cake which my friends always seem happy to take as payment for other offerings :D

  • Hi everyone!

Thanks ETO for starting this week's thread, have no idea how I missed an entire week! Haven't been well but did manage to only spend £8.80 this week which was on faxes and submitting my timesheets for work.

I'd like to pledge £10 this week thank you. Am hoping to spend much less than that but will see how it goes.

Today was a NSD for me, although I wasted 2 hours getting to the hairdresser this morning for my 10am appointment to find the place still closed at 10h15! I tried to ring but no answer, now I'll have to find elsewhere to have it done for the same price!

Am hoping for a low spend week

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Cheers
