I don't know whom to talk to - I've lost a friend today

As the title says, I don't know whom to talk to without the fear of being judged silly (or worse) because I am mourning my little friend.
I know people lose children and spouses every minute that God makes, but it doesn't make my pain any less real.
We lost our little bunny friend this morning, on our way to the vet's.
I don't even know why I post on here as it's not even a moneysaving thread. I guess, I just need to see if I can find like minded people who won't laugh/ignore me because I mourn an animal
I can't believe she's gone. And in my arms. So suddenly. I just hope she didn't die in horrible pain.
RIP Isolde. My little trooper.

Really sorry to hear you lost your little friend today. I would certainly never laugh at anyone upset over losing a pet. It is definitely the worst part of having a pet. I have been upset at the death of every pet I have ever had whether it be dog, cat, mouse, hamster etc. They become part of your life and your family.
It's natural to be upset but try and think of what a happy life you gave Isolde and of the joy she gave you.
I have lost many much loved pets over the years and I still think of them and can still get upset but it does get easier. I lost a beautiful dog on 19th July last year and although I can think of him without crying now (just about) I am dreading the anniversary of his death. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Im so sorry for you loss. Even though its an animal it doesnt make it any less important a loss to you her owner.
My cat was run over September 2012 and I still feel so upset just thinking about it. I was in bits all weekend afterwards and was glad I found a reputable pet crematorium so i could at least give her a decent send off. For weeks afterwards I took comfort in her ashes and being able to hold them. I had them placed in a wood ornament of a cat.
I was appalled to realise many pet crematoriums charge a lot of money to not personally care for your pet and cremate pets in groups even though they assure you they dont.
Example for the owner of the pet crematorium i used - a recently bereaved owner took his great dane to be cremated and returned the next day to pick up the casket. It was quite large in relation to the other caskets he had of his other much loved great danes. The conclusion was the other caskets were not the whole entirety of his beloved great danes. It makes you realise how other people do not take as much care with an animal as others and realise the passing of a loved pet can be akin to an owners child passing away.
So in short I can understand your pain and please dont think you alone in your grief to mourn a much loved animal.

we've all got pets on this board, so no-one will think you silly. It's one of the hardest things that our pets live so much shorter lives than we do0

Sorry for your loss Ellie83, hope you can take some comfort from knowing you held her as she passed away and she wasn't alone. RIP Little Bunny :A0

There is nothing wrong with mourning the sad loss of a pet, pets are part of the family too. Were you to not but an eyelid over such a terrible event, some may question your motives for having a pet.
Speaking as a strong hearted man in his 40's who has a pet cat. I would shed buckets over Tigs if he was to pass away. I doubt anyone would dare call me silly for crying over it, not unless they were anonymous and hiding behind their computer screens of course.
Remember all those happy moments you shared with your pet, for your pet will undoubtedly live on within them. If there is such a thing as heaven, know your pet is now up there doing a jig with his mates whilst looking down on you with pride.
Commiserations for your loss OP.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I'm Still Here
Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!0
