Hi OP, it is NOT silly for you to be upset or to mourn the loss of a pet. They are family members just as humans are.

I have grown up with pets and the pain and upset of losing them never gets easier.

I had a cat who was 2 years old who was an indoor cat but had plucked up the courage to go outside.

Within a few weeks of him going out somebody had poisoned him and I found him, crying in pain under a bush in my garden. He was bleeding from places he shouldn't have been bleeding and walked like he was drunk (best way I can describe it).
I guess I thought (naively), because he was at the vets he would be fine and they would save him.
Unfortunately somebody had poisoned him and he had to be PTS. It was horrible - but at least when he had gone he wasn't suffering anymore.

This happened 2 years ago yet it still upsets me when I think about it, but don't feel ashamed or silly for being upset about your rabbit. Just be glad that your rabbit isn't in pain anymore.

Sorry for rambling, I just get so angry when people laugh at others or say "its only an animal"

Hope you feel better soon xx
The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.
