0-3months

0-3 months - they don't need much if anything! A chair on an incline so they can watch what is going on around them and possibly a baby gym or mat if you feel like spoiling them. They won't be able to hold or operate anything or do more than swipe at or stare at a hanging object above their head.

3-6 months - rattles, bells, introduce books, things that can be chewed and washed easily

6-12 months - stacking cups, building blocks, push along toys, more complex books, musical instruments, bath toys are all popular

I loved Lamaze stuff from an early age, it just transfixed him, he loved staring. Playmat too from a young age, but he wasn't a baby who liked bouncers or swings :o

I have just bought the Fisher Price cases for the iPhone and iPad, as my 6 month old grandson is always trying to grab them.
I have downloaded all the Fisher Price apps. He now has lots of different things to see when he touches them.
Although today he was more interested in looking at himself in the mirror on the back of the phone case.

The iPad case was £20 in the Argos sale.

The phone case was £13 in ToysRus ,

We do have (normal toys) but these are things that he will be using for years.

From a day old my baby loved his Fisherprice seahorse (a bit like a glowworm but plays underwater sounds and tunes) Soothed him lots.
He enjoyed lying on his changing mat with a helium balloon tied to it.
He loved (and still enjoys) an "amazing baby" board book called "Black and White".
From about 6 weeks he liked his bouncey chair and "In the Night Garden" on Cbeebies.
He always loved being talked to and sung to.
From about 3 months Lamaze toys are fab. And touch and feel board books such as the "THAT'S NOT MY..." series are great.
He was bought an "A frame" type walker when about 6 months old but he preferred to push a ride on car.
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.
    MFW OPd 2014 £2000 2013 £9700 2012 £2848.39 2011 £2509.58 2010 £11000 2009 £112002008 £4939 :D
Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013 :)

Eeek. I do hope they'll survive his BamBam phase...my son loved whacking things on the floor for a while...I figured that the two phones I left within his reach were my fault...

OP, wooden blocks are great....hours of fun to be had building towers and knocking them down. And if you cut holes the right shape into a cardboard box, they double as a posting toy-commercial ones never have enough stuff to post.
