The last mile from the exchange is over your existing BT line, that still applies if you take FTTC. Talk Talk have their equipment in the exchange and their own network beyond that. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

thanks , but can i expect to get enough speed from a standard talk talk line to watch tv etc ? my current bt line supports that0

Should be no different - I think there is a speed checker on the TalkTalk website if you want to check.0

If its OK now it should be the same if you switch. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

iv'e done the check and the bt is 5.89 and the talk talk 3.2 mb , which i'm concerened about ,but the talk talk one seems to be an estimate and not a true reading, don't know what to do for the best ? thanks for the replies0

Can you go to 'samknows dot com' (sorry, not allowed to post links yet), find the exchange search tool, put in your postcode and post the name of your exchange. This way I am able to see whether BT does in fact have faster equipment (which I very much doubt, it's probably TalkTalk giving a conservative estimate).0

Talktalk give very conservative speed estimates. They told me my line could 'only' support 9 meg yet I'm getting 18 meg with them.0

I switched from AOL , but what I will say is, are you gettting a shopping voucher offer on essentials? I got £70 for moving to the essential package, it has been on and off for a while now so might be wrth waiting a week or so.
My speed is much the same as before but might upgrade to fibre .0
