Don't buy the memory card in a camera shop-assuming you may buy your camea there. Dixons,Currys etc are expensive on memory cards. Make sure that you have alook at the camera you like-try the menu and make sure it is easy to undestand and user friendly. No point in having loads of gizmos if you cannot figure out how to use them!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

I was watching the gadget show and they were doing a section on comparing digital cameras and they said that after 6.6 Mega Pixels you eyes wont be able to tell the difference (between 6.6 & anything over) so there is no point getting anything about 6.6 mega pixels unless you are planning on blowing the picture up to a massive size as this is the only time you will be able to see any difference in the quality. Is this true?
its not so much about eyes not noticing difference etc its the fact that the ccd (thing that captures light and takes the pic) is too small for anything over 6mp or so to make much of a difference - different story with SLRs though0 -
Canon Ixus 850 or Canon A640 are both great. You need to have a feel in your hands as some cameras are just too small for some people.
for memory cards buy from play or mymemory.co.uk always go for a brand name - the price difference is small. sandisk are the market leaders.
NEVER buy memory from ebay - usually fake.

We've got a Canon PowerShot which gives excellent results. Worth having a look at this site to get some pointers!

I bought a Canon Powershot A430 last year, for around £80 from Amazon, it's an excellent camera, as are others in this range. Sister bought one too and has been very happy.
You can now get the Canon PowerShot A460 for the same price we paid for the A430, though we did get a free larger extra memory card, though I bought a couple of 1GB cards from elsewhere too.
Canon make great cameras and great lenses.

I wouldn't buy memory cards from the high street, look at offers on Amazon, https://www.eBuyer.co.uk , https://www.7dayshop.comIt's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
