Nope...our debt goes back 3 years, its only in the last year we have been paying ccjs and debt companies...

Obviously when our business went tits up we had no money for a long while and nobody got paid, but in the last year everyone is getting minimal amounts. I can guarantee 100% our credit is shot. Otherwise I wouldnt even consider going BK. Our backs are against the wall and we want to pay our way out of it, but nobody will let us!!!!

They will not hear of a guarantor at the moment. The agent that is dealing with it is normally on sales and has no clue whatsoever. And the scagheadjunkie lookalike on lettings sounds so zoned out she never knows who she is talking to or what about.

The landlady and her husband are both Indian. This is their savings and investment plan and its new to them - he also speaks very little English but I think ultimately its he that is making the decisions. She is also nicey nicey on the phone but then gets the agent to start talking about other tennants waiting.

    Still waiting for credit check........

Neither of them. We wrote the letter to the landlady explaining our predicament but she is either thick or just hoping we will go away... I think she might be too emarassed to say bog off as we shop in her shop. She is leaving it to the agent who wears a toupe...a crusty ginger grey toupe and looks like the evil toad off of Dangermouse.

    Good Morning NME,

Another thought: How about putting an advertisment in your local newspaper(s), "3/4 Bedroom Property wanted for caring, houseproud family. Deposit, Guarantor and References available......etc, etc"

I'm sure Bat would give you a reference and I certainly would :D

There'll be somebody somewhere close to you who has just got an empty property on their hands for whatever reason, and not quite sure what to do for the best; reading an advert like that might just prompt them to contact you.

  • Afternoon!

Just got back from bootfair an hour away and made £90! Hoorah.

Downside is that Landlady no longer wants to go with agency (with whom we placed £500 deposit) but wants to go with a different agency that are Indian and take 6 months up front.

Its clear that she wants to use another agency because they are cheaper, meanwhile we get the runaround. She now wants us to drive 20 miles away to this other agency. Its too late to get the money out of the bank today (she wants cash). there are still problems with the house (broken window - stuff in the shed - radiators need fixing - light fittings need doing etc).

We want this house, but feel like we are really being taken for a ride now....
