Would you get married on a Monday?

Hi all,
I could really do with your thoughts on this as I'm not quite sure what to do!
Basically, myself and hubby-to-be are looking to get married next year. We have found a venue that meets all our requirements however it's rather pricey. We decided to negotiate on cost and have been offered a deal on a Friday in the summer which is £1900 cheaper than it should be. Excellent, we thought, although the hire still comes in at £3.5k (it's exclusive use and includes the entire hotel and all 15 bedrooms). We thought we'd done quite well, saving a big chunk of money, although I appreciate it is a lot to spend for one day and somewhat against the money saving ethos but we've picked it for a variety of reasons which I won't bore you with but are essentials for us!
Anyhow, imagine our astonishment when we found that a new deal they are offering allows us to book a date either Monday - Thursday with free hire! Yup, just pay for the food! They have offered us a date (Monday 1st Sept) which means it's still in the summer holidays for our teacher friends ( July and August are not included in the deal) but my question is: would you hold your big day at the start of the week knowing it would save you a small fortune but also knowing that some people probably wouldn't come, and may perhaps resent you for having to take a couple of days off work? I worry that people won't let their hair down because they'll have that 'start of the week' vibe, and would hate for our guests not to come or to come and leave early because they have work the next day and didn't want to book an additional day off. Maybe I'm worrying too much but a big part of the day for me is sharing it with our friends and I want them to have a great a time as we hope to. Grateful for your thoughts.

A friend of ours had their wedding on a Monday (again good deal on fab venue), it was a lovely day. Quite a few people left around 10pm-ish, but there was still plenty of dancing going on.0

If it was someone I love, I would move heaven and Earth to be there.0

Thanks for your reply! I did wonder if people would leave early - can't really blame them! - and I guess we need to work out if it's worth paying the extra for the 'peace of mind' ( for want of a better phrase!), to ensure our guests can relax knowing that they won't have to work the next day or take time off! Tricky, very tricky, but good to know you felt the wedding was nice!0

Jenhug, yes, like you that's what I'd do! But I always worry that people might resent us for it. I think our friends would take the day off, I guess I'm more worried about whether they'd leave really early or if our evening guests wouldn't come at all!0

what time are you planning to marry?0

Hi Jenhug. Timings are still tbc with the church but I was hoping around 1/1.30ppm ish so people who want to travel on the day have the option to.0
-
is the wedding far from home? ie will the majority of your guests be traveling far?0
-
Most of the guests will be local but there will definitely be people travelling from further afield as I didn't grow up in this area and lots of my friends are from childhood, so a couple of hours drive away ( up to three hours if traffic is bad).0

I see, I would be tempted to ask if you can marry at 12, have a larger main meal (don't bother having day guests evening guests) and do a light tea, (maybe cheese, pate and biscuits?) in preparation for people leaving early.0

That's an idea, I'd not thought of that at all. Thanks! I guess that way people wouldn't grumble about feeling hungry at the end of the day if they chose to leave early. Food is always important, isn't it?0
