Yes, the account is now showing in the 'closed rates' accounts although it still seemed available over the weekend. Chorley seemed such a good rate that I was tempted after Kazza posted about the rate increase and planned to open an account this week.

Yes, unfortunately they withdraw it last Saturday (2nd June).

This leads me on to another question, which maybe should be a separate post - what sources do people use to find good accounts?

The FSA Tables are really useful, as well as Moneyfacts. I'm not too keen on moneysupermarket because their information can sometimes be out of date.

I see e-moneyfacts at work where we have a sub and that has never shown it either although you cant search so well for regular savers there.

On Moneyfacts you can use this regular saver search. Just input your criteria and it will do the rest.

I know that some of the money websites only include banks and building societies that pay in some way eg for listing or click throughs - would be interested to know what other comparison tables are available. https://www.interest-rates.org.uk has been mentioned by a colleague of mine as being independent.

I like the FSA tables, as they seem to list pretty much all of the accounts.

Am disappointed about Chorley - how did anyone find out about it in the first place is what I would love to know!

It was first listed in the FSA tables. Moneyfacts added it to their list of accounts afterwards.

My current balance across all my Regular Savers is just over £70,000 with a GROSS combined rate of 6.92% .

Currently I have 17 Regular Savers with £57K in the pot. Gross combined rate is 6.89%, so close then. Could do with a few more 7%+.
Does anyone know if you can hold both Halifax 7% Regular Saver and Bank of Scotland 7% Regular Saver?

Even better than that...Coventry Building Society allow daily withdrawal limit up to £500 from each suitable account (eg Coventry First, NetSave Instant).

They do indeed and I've made great use of the £500 withdrawal limit to feed my YBS regular saver over the counter.

Kazza - what ideas do you have ready for the autumn when your Coventry First account first anniversary occurs (0.85% AER bonus expires)? Perhaps you can help those of us for whom the account now pays only 5.13% gross (£1 to £10,000 balance).

I have been thinking about this. So many savings accounts only allow withdrawals to linked current accounts these days, making it difficult to find a high interest savings account that allows SO's or future dated payments to be setup. This is why I've been dripfeeding the large lump sum I have in Coventry to numerous regular savers, paying a minimum of 6.50%. Over the coming months I will be looking more closely at high interest accounts, that allow a lump sum to be held and can be used to drip feed regular savers. I might have to go for a high interest current account + eSaver combo.

For me, it hardly seems worth the bother of setting up all the Standing Orders to come, instead, from Coventry's NetSave Instant account, as its rate of 5.25% -v- Coventry First rate of 5.13% would make minimal difference. So, alternatively, I'm looking for ideas of sources other than Coventry Bdg Soc for efficient, 3-day (eg out Monday, arriving Wednesday) Standing Orders that the customer can quickly arrange (+ later adjust) online.

Agreed. I also like the Monday >> Wednesday transfer cycle. Though this may not be so significant later in the year when faster payments are meant to be introduced.

Thanks, Milarky - 6.10% gross makes it worthwhile boosting this month's deposit closer to the permitted £1,000 per month max.

The full 0.25% rate rise has been passed on by National Counties BS for their Monthly Saver account (now 5.45%). Their website has been updated for their various savings accounts.

Only 0.15% rise for Norwich and Peterborough Bdg Society's online account (NetmasterGold Saver II) now at 5.30% effective June 6th. This is the first rise since January 25th, so very mean.

4.75% offered for N&P's cheque account - provided the customer desposits £1,500 or more each month (balance £1 - £5,000) and opts out of paper statements. Upper limit could be useful, as many end around £2,500.

I too have wondered this. Has anyone tried opening both?
