I think Sailor Sam's post was tongue in cheek.
  • Another vote for Sains Basics 80 for 27p, brilliant value and a lovely strong cuppa. DH drinks a lot of tea and says they are as good as PG & Twinings.

I drink alot of tea, I normally stick to the branded bags and just buy when on offer.

I have a system that I have the box I am using then up to two back up boxes. Once I start on a back up box, I then start to look every week whilst shopping to spot the offers, I have never found that I have got through two boxes before spotting a good offer, depending on what box I am using I either buy one of two of the offer packs and start the system again.

I do the above as I have tried all the value / basic tea and just dont like them, and like it has been pointed out branded tea bags are expensive.

I'm another sainsbobs tea drinker I leave the bag in a little longer so its a good colour when oits made and at 27-8p for 80 bags I am quite happy to drink it.My DD swears that she will only drink Yorkshire tea yet drinks mine and doesn't notice (I haven't told her I've changed ) tea is tea after all,but I am keen on fresh ground coffee and at the moment have about 6 bags of the stuff from my DGS Danny who works in t.v. and in his office they keep getting bagsful of sample stuff that doesn't get used so he passes it on to me.I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth so at the moment I have some delicious coffee that has a hint of coconut in it and I'm enjoying it even more as its free :):):)

As you mentioned Tetley was your brew of choice- Tetley tea bags are currently on offer at the Co-op: a box of 160 tea bags for £2.26.
(I know the Co-op wasn't on your list of regular shops but I thought I would mention it anyway).
To be honest I don't really know whether that's a good price for Tetley or not as I prefer PG Tips myself and I only buy that if it's on special offer.
  • I must admit Twinings everyday are my first choice but will settle for Aldi gold but as you don't shop there its not helpful!

I did notice poundland lately doing pg cheaply

Tesco original in the red box are my usual brand and they are fine; what I do like is that the 80 bags come in 2 x 40 sealed packets, much prefer this to the boxes that could have 160+ loose bags.

Life is too short to drink cheap tea I don't really like so I would rather pay more if needs be.

There is an organic tea I found in the local shop and used to stock up on cheaper in Waitrose but can't for the life of me think what it is and can't find it online now. Not clipper than tastes like dust to me.

I also got some free samples of Tea India teas the other day which were lovely!

    Tea is just so important!

Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.
