Yes it's essentially the same but the problem is many extension kits are made out of rubbish cable so at least this kit would ensure the best extension possible and complete with the socket etc.
And being a bona fide BT adsl extension kit, the fibre installation engineer shouldn't be able to grumble about only being able to install to the master socket, I would hope.
