Couldn't you re-donate the clothes back to the charity shop again?

Very poor advice, especially for a second-hand garment. People want well-lit photos of the actual item they are buying, from different angles and with close-ups to show the fabric and any flaws. Along with every measurement.

Selling clothes is a PITA and hard work. I only do bundles of kids clothes (and only the higher end brands sell).

immie said include a stock photo for the garment if possible, which I think is very good advice. I take lots of pictures of the actual item I am selling but also try to get a stock photo so they can see what it looks like 'on'.

I ended up selling a Superdry windcheater for £35 and an M&S pure new wool blazer, with no signs of wear for £19, and a Berketex jacket for £7. This was after putting on early on a Thurs evening for 10 days. Five items didn't sell, I have relisted some and sold others to friends. I have some cheaper items which I put on from Sunday to Sunday and just have the one bid of 99p so far.

I'm going to heed the excellent advice here about using a tape measure, I also included a size guide from M&S and Jaeger so people could compare sizes. This week I'm going to list some men's jackets, I can see why it would become a pain, I was stressing about how well I would wrap stuff but got positive feedback and thanks so that was a relief.

Sell according to the season! I'm quite a new seller, but I've sold a few fairly expensive dresses of the type you'd wear to a wedding, or a teenager would wear for a prom, and at this time of year they sell well because that's what people are looking for.

I also sold a wetsuit during the recent heatwave, but I have two nice ski jackets and a coat that I'm saving until winter.

I always put the brand as the first word in the title, a lot of people search by brand.

That is what I normally do but thought I would try and sell some of them.

Thats a really good point as well about selling the items, - when my daughter was younger, I found that if she had any summer clothes in good condition esp swimwear, I would put that on around Feb half term, - only started early with her summer stuff as some parents go away Easter, and kids swimwear doesn't really go into shops till just b4 easter. Even if she wore the swimwear, start it at 99p, I once had a swimming costume bidded up to £10, where as put the swimwear on in june, lucky to get 99p. x

If you have trousers Sell them as 2 pairs and start them at £4.99
Use my hermes..I know peeps have had their probs with them but I have used them for about 6 months and had not one problem, this will keep postage prices down
Make sure at least the pictured part is ironed so it looks nice, Lie them on a white sheet and try and take pics outside where possible. Good luck with it

Just to warn you, I never buy from sellers that use MyHermes, no matter how much I might want the item, and I don't think I'm the only one!
  • I would team up items that make an outfit. I had a next skirt listed for 99p - and a blouse listed for 2.49 for weeks (sssss) and guess what not one bid on either, so decided team them up - take new photo showing the two garments as an outfit and - hey presto - sold within days !!

Oh, and watch out, even if it's listed properly and honestly - some people just want more. I listed a pair of Primark pyjamas in almost mint condition - didn't state that though - just put Primark, worn once then washed and ironed.

Feedback received - NEG - They were not good quality

Really felt replying "Primark NOT Prada" but common sense prevailed and due to advice on here just put "Full refund offered on return" although I do like my answer better.!!!!
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay

    I prefer your answer!!
I had a classic at a car boot, had some cheap costume jewellery, asking £1 for the necklace and this woman moaned that it wasn't 9 carot gold! x
