It doens't matter what you think about your past relationship or how you feel about giving her money, if her name is on the joint application, she is entitled to half whether you like it or not.
They will not give you a cheque only in your name for the total PPI redress.

if I HAVE to give her half I will not proceed with the claim.
That's your choice and it means the Bank gets to keep all the money.
Even if you detest your ex, I think better she should have half than the Bank should have all.
    As I said, your choice...

I rather keep some of the money then let a bunch of strangers who don't care less about you in the Banking world keep any of it. No skin off there noses. More for the chairman and his pension.

little update. I spoke with the ex on Friday, she agreed to sign the form and a letter agreeing to have the refund made payable solely to me.

Egg on my face for slating her before I had even spoke to her about it. must have caught her in a good mood :-)

    Hope you treat her ;)
The bank may make a joint cheque so be aware of this.

yeah, hense the letter she has signed requesting the settlement solely in my name, hope they accept this, although I can see them wanting to drag it out as much as possible.

she may get a bag of haribo for her troubles and not causing me any aggro :D
