you wouldn't have had any rights to a refund anyway as there is nothing wrong with the items you simply do not want them, after 12 months you're likely to find they won't entertain anything.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

There is no way they would accept them as they are 12 months out of fashion, will have been cleared in the sale etc.
Legally you have no right to a refund within even an hour of purchase if you buy in store and simply change your mind. Retailers only have to accept returns if faulty. Many major retailers offer a good will gesture for returns within a specified period, usually between 7-28 days.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

The rules must be completely different in the USA, I watched a programme on Hoarding last night and they took a couple of car loads of stuff back to the shops because the purchaser had the receipts.0

Actually I think you may find at the managers discretion you may get an exchange at the latest selling price.
I used to be a mgr for them.
Won't be much now though, maybe 30%-50% of original price?0 -

Although I agree that the OP wouldn't have any rights to a refund purely on 'change of mind', the OP mentions Next in the title and Next do offer refund on 'change of mind' (obviously over and above the customer's statutory rights) but I think the time limit is 28 days.
If it were me, I'd either sell as BNWT on ebay or charity shop them.0 -
Pop back to Next, see what they offer. Don't be upset if they say no!
It's always worth a try, because they may do it even if it is not within their advertised policy.0 -

Your brother will be so upset that he forgot to take these things with him, won't he?0
