New ATA ??

Just seen an interesting comment on twitter

@NoToMob: @BritishParking Independent Parking Committee Ltd new ATA for the parking industry. End of BPA Ltd monopoly. Could be the end of BPA Ltd?

Could it be that the BPA is going to face competition from another bunch of scammer towers ??

And this

I'll guess that it's being set up by people who have been booted out of the BPA

What concerns me is that if they have been turfed out of BPA and they set up their own ATA then the DVLA may well/will give out details to the lowest of the low.
How many ATA's would be approved?
    Can anyone set one up?
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

The are not people who were booted out of the BPA .. or even in the BPA at any point.

I wont comment on who they are but im sure it will be out there soon enough.

But from a different view I am a member of the BPA and for the last 18 months the industry has been screaming out for new alternative ATA.
The BPA have in recent months lifted any control they try and take instead just make sure their logo is emblazoned everywhere. I think one section of the code reuires us to wear BPA boxers on first date.

I can only see the NEW ATA (IPC) being a good thing

    And would they use POPLA?

Interesting question given POPLA is effectively a BPA organisation ( albeit outsourced to London Councils ).

    That's why I asked. ;) :rotfl:

I could see interesting complications if ATA2 had different operational requirements for its members, but still within the remit of POFA and these conflicted with the current POLA/BPA wording.

That will be to remind your date that they have a period of grace to decide if they want to take up your offer or not presumably?

Most (all?) councils are members of the BPA Ltd. Along with the other 'respectable' PPCs like NCP, Vinci, APCOA etc they must be deeply embarrassed to have to rub shoulders with the quasi-criminal ex-clampers over whom there seems to be no effective control or sanction. If BPA Ltd won't kick out the crooks I can see the appeal for them of a new clean & decent ATA2.

AS Bernard would have said to Jim Hacker "That's impossible Prime Minister as is it not possible for upright citizens to rub shoulders with low life" :o
  • I think we should all give this new ata a chance.

They won't use Popla and they will have their own independent appeals service.

As ppc guy has correctly said it is not connected with any former members of the bpa
