S2 turning itself off since Android update

My Samsung S2 informed me at the weekend that it wanted to install a new version of the operating system. It went from 4.0.something (Ice Cream Sandwich) to 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).
The new version seems to be mainly a churned version of the old one. There was nothing wrong with the old one either!
Anyway, I've tolerated the change. One problem though - the phone seems to have turned itself off about 3 times over the last week or so. It was fine before - I ran it for several months without a restart.

I had the same problem with my S2 i now have the S3
1 if you have any battery apps running try turning them off
2 have a look in the power saving settings
3 Try reinstalling the firmware again
Mine was the battery app that was coursing the problem.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.

First port of call would be a factory reset.0

I took a look at the battery display and realised that it was turning itself off after a large power drop (10% in minutes). I guessed that maybe an app was rubbish. I thought it through - I'd installed twitter, facebook and some crappy email app just after the update. So I uninstalled the email app and it's been fine since.Happy chappy0

My wife had a lot of bother with her s2 after getting the 4.1.2 update - her battery life went up the left and in the end I installed a custom rom onto her phone and ordered a new Anker battery that has done the job and she loves it again. Though it only has to last a few more months before I make plans to get her the s4 for xmas.0
