    News to me that SOGA doesn't apply in Scotland. When did this change?

    As to the OP's problem - a true diagnosis is required, not rhetoric or blame. The Apple shop can provide this. Until then, speculation is pointless.

    Why should the OP have to pay anything if the defect is caused by the manufacturer (for which O2 is liable to the OP) and not caused by the OP?

    The law relating to the quality of service in Scotland is common law (giving the same rights as statute).

    Claims made against the quality of goods supplied along with services tend to be made under the SOGA.

    For the reasons I've given in my prior posts.

    It's just my opinion given the difficulty and inconvenience of making a claim, time involved etc.

    What the OP does is up to them.
