Bank loan with Yorkshire Bank 1989.

I borrowed £5000 from The Yorkshire Bank in 1989 but don't have any of the paperwork for this loan. I don't remember PPi being mentioned, but it was a long time ago. I borrowed the money over 5 years and the interest, or extras, ppi perhaps, meant I repaid £10000. Is it worth me trying to find out if I was missold anything on this loan or is it too late ? How do I go about claiming with The Yorkshire Bank ?

With this being over 20 years ago and you have no paperwork, I doubt the bank will either after all this time, you could call them and see if they can find you but this is a long shot.0

Even if you found PPI was applied to this account from almost a quarter century ago, on what basis would you complain that it was mis-sold? It is not wrong to simply have insurance.I Is it worth me trying to find out if I was missold anything on this loan or is it too late ?
Regardless, without documentary proof from your own archive, any complaint is doomed to fail.0 -
grahalex just try and query it with Yorkshire Bank, I would. I had a loan with Yorkshire Bank in 1999 and PPI was front loaded. I did not have a complaint reason I just said it had PPI on it even though I could not remember if I had it and they paid me back £1674. The reason on there offer letter was, it was not suitable for me. I was expecting it to go to the FOS but never got that far. Infact it took all of 4 weeks from start to finish for them to uphold my complaint. Did you bank with the Yorkshire Bank, they may have your account number on there archive sytems. I no longer bank with them but they found my account numbers.0

Hi Sava05, that's very encouraging, yes I did bank with The Yorkshire Bank at the time, not any longer. Is there a special phone number to ring or did you write in ?0

Hello, I had to write to Yorkshire Bank PPI complaints and they do have a number, it is tel: 0845 602 5410. There address is;
Clydesdale Bank
2nd Floor
Royal Exchange House
100 Queen Street
Glasgow
G1 3DN
Don't listen to anybody on here, just give them a ring and tell them your home address etc and when you banked with them. I am sure they will have some sort of information of you that you banked with them and take it from there.0 -
Thanks for that, I will.0

Even if I get nowhere it's worth a phone call.0

EXACTLY. Listen to others on here and you failed before you begun, I don't think so. I tried it and got my PPI plus interest back, for a price of a phone call and a cost of a stamp, its worth every penny.:T0

This has got me thinking. I took a loan out with CB in 98/99 when i was 18 near 19, i was on a hairdressing apprcship earning only bout £60 a week. I went into branch, i was then called and hounded till i went back in. All forms were ready on table was told just sign here. I did as i was told. Think it was for aroun £3/4g paid it off over oooh dont know years i think. Took out another loan to finally pay it off. Im sure it was £6/7g by then. Never thought about it till seen this post. Im certain ppi was put on it. Me being a trainee at the time, was ppi needed or would it even have covered me. I was technically a student. Minimum wage wasnt even in force at that point so i was earning a tiny amount a week for full time job. I only remember being told sign. What should i do?0

Put a complaint in, ring them, but it mainly in writing to them. I am 99.9999% sure all loans in that period all loans were single premium ( front loaded ) added to the loan anyway as mine was and everybody was. Tell them what you said in your last post in #13.0
