The FOS aren’t obliged to consider any laws, rules, terms and conditions etc and are free to decide what the issues of the complaint are.
    Hi dalesrider

Thank you for your response. We are currently in NZ meaning we are a bit behind the times, it also makes communication with the UK a bit more complicated.

On many places throughout its website and in standard email templates, the FOS says

    meeting your needs

We can adapt the way we communicate with you depending on your needs.

You can ask to communicate via email or secure message so you don't have to use couriers or parcel carriers.
  • Hi everyone

Thank you for all of your responses. Unfortunately there is no obvious, clear cut way in which this money could have been taken. I wish there was. You have all asked a number of important questions and I appreciate where you are heading in asking them. Yes we used the card once, in South Africa, a number of months before this problem occurred. No it is unlikely that someone witnessed the PIN being used and then just happened to be in Thailand the same time as to commit the crime. yes it seems that both the PIN and the card themselves were compromised and I have absolutely no idea how that could have been possible.

I keep using words like frustrating and depressing and that's because it's true. We are getting nowhere and it seems from what you have all said that we should just drop it and move on. That goes against my very nature but I appreciate that if we continue then we may not only lose our money but also the £75 offered by FOS for the companies handling of our complaint.

It's a very unfair world we live in but I don't know what else to do.

    Thanks again.

Did you have travel insurance for the Thailand trip in question? If yes, have you tried claiming for the loss through them?
