"we got a wii , finally but its an early Xmas present for my 2 eldest children"

Blimey, that really is an early Xmas present!!!

I'm planning on getting my children one for Xmas, hopefully there'll be some good bundles out by then.

To be fair there are only 204 shopping days left until xmas. ;)

Yeah need to but the opera browser now.

I got one when it first came out. Only ever used it 3 times though, only bought it to see what all the fuss was about. Great family console, but gameplay could be a lot better. Maybe they will bring out some decent games.

my wii is now online but I am disappointed that I cannot surf the Net with it. I had been led to believe that this was possible with special wii browsers but I can't figure out how this can be done.

just got it sorted myself..... go to shopping channel then click the picture of the wii where it says wii software... it has 2 things to download which are free they are the opera browser and a daft voting poll thing i choose them both,,, i've been reading my emails and my local newspaper:rotfl: :rotfl:

My ds loves his, he says it's the best console he's ever played. It's definitely worth the money when compared to other consoles.

When Wii first came out it was until end of April but must have extended it. Like i said only used it a cpl of times.

They should just leave it free for all time.

Just to put the other side of the argument across, I'm not really a big fan of the wii (having got one on day of release)....I think it all depends on your level of ability and interest in games. My sister, parents, etc love it, as it's so easy to setup, wireless out of the box, pick up and play, very polished interface etc, but personally it doesn't do much for me.

The gameplay just isn't deep enough for my taste. I've not played a game (granted, I've only played 6 or 7) that would actually hook me in for any period of time. Wii sports is good, but within a few minutes bowling I could get strikes every time and had to start trying to get them from stupid angles etc to make it interesting. I got bored of playing the same 9 (pretty easy) holes of golf over and over and the wiimote just isn't *quite* sensitive enough for putting in a natural way. I got frustrated by the simplicity of tennis...I wanted to be able to apply more spin, do more soft shots...you just can't do it. I still haven't got baseball 100% beat, but I think that's because it's poorly implemented rather than it actually being challenging.

Red steel's a pretty decent stab at a shooter, but I find the "point and shoot" thing a little more gimicky than it is intuitive.

Things like Raving Rabbits and WarioWare are good fun...but not something I could play for that long in a sitting (or standing :))

Playing multiplayer, you can just about forgive the Wii for most of these things, but playing in your own it's just not that great.

And, as a secondary concern (gameplay comes first!)...there's the lack of decent graphics.

So I guess what I'm saying is that the wii's pretty good, but let down by the games.

I know I'm not alone in this, either...I know a couple of people who've bought the wii, loved it at first, then got a little bored/frustrated after a while and have gone back to playing their 360s.

What you have to consider though, the Wii was never aimed at the hardcore gamers like the xbox and playstation is.

This is aimed at the family side, to try and get everyone involved, from the youngest to the oldest. Graphics will allways take a backseat on the Wii to gameply.

If anyone is after a gaming machine where your more likely to spend hours by yourself then forget the Wii.
