    1. Salt dough/Bright white clay dough, made using salt, flour and water/baking soda, cornstarch and water. These are fairly easy to start with, but can become more intricate. (If you want to keep them for a long time, or give them a different finish, varnish them with water-insoluble varnish.

    2. Origami, rather than buy the paper, I tend to cut batches to size, this is much cheaper to practise with, I only use the nice paper once I've perfected the shape. Origami lucky stars are quick and easy.

    3. dollarstorecraft.com is full of ideas

    4. Handsewing is very cheap to start (depending on fabrics) I tend to buy remanants and complete small quick projects. Also very moneysaving to rehem trousers and sew up holes in jean pockets (not sure why this always happens to me....) I actually enlarged most of mine, the fabric doesn't match, but it's not visible so......

    5. Decoupage

Although I've been crafting (in one form or another) for the past 30 years, I've just 'found' needle felting and I LOVE IT!!! I'm currently needle felting with just one felting needle and making little brooches. I'd only made just one and a relative was so taken with it that she asked me to make her one too. It's easy and relatively cheap. There are folks on ebay who will sell you a little kit to get you started. The wool roving that you get in the kit goes a long way!

Have a look at some of the videos on YouTube of people who will show you how to needle felt. It's really easy.
Remember: however thin you slice something, there are always two sides to everything.

I would suggest turning away and running from this hobby, your house will never look the same (craft stuff breeds!) and your bank balance will be badly affected!
