Moving from O2-Sky

A few years back I briefly had Sky BB but wasn't impressed with their speeds. From a 20mb connection I was getting about 8mb! They told me this was because of the ADSL1 technology at my local exchange. However I moved to O2 shortly afterwards and was pulling down about 14mb from the exact same exchange!!!!
I'm concerned my BB speed will drop again with the impending move to Sky later on this year. I called them earlier about their switch to their free BB for a year. They carried ot a line test and said i could get anything from 9-14mb but I will be guaranteed at least 7mb!!! This is a bit vague so I left it for now.
I'm still under contract with O2. When I inevitably move to Sky later on this year will I have the right to move if I experience a noticeable drop in my BB speed ?

I like you am with O2 BB and very reluctant to move to sky.
I called O2 last week and they confirmed you just had to give 7 days notice to cancel the service at anytime. Even if your still in contract.
I'm looking around to see what other deals are available.0 -
Likewise don't wont spam man Sky .
Initial thoughts are BT fibre + the You View box .
38 GB with 40Gb cap as a trial .
But lost really decent ISPs F2S then BE all taken out of the game by inferior products .

I went with the Sky fibre option, just waiting on installation. Would have stuck with O2 but given they sold the business its forced me to swap to someone else.
Sky offered me the best deal out of the three who serve my area - Sky, BT & Plusnet - but to be honest unless BT offered me a really good deal I wouldnt touch them having had a previous bad experience of them.0 -
You are not making too much sense in that O2 was bought by Sky, so why did you not just stay put?
BT and Plusnet are of course the same company, and Sky fibre is delivered over the BT Infinity infrastructure. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
My contract ends next week so I wanted to shop around like I do every year. O2 offered the best speeds in my area for standard BB because both BT and Sky are massively oversubscribed. Yes I could have stayed as I was until Sky took over the service, but the fibre prices I got were less than what I was paying for standard BB so I've opted for that.0

Hi
I have just gone through the changeobever this week and I really was reluctant to do so. I have had fantastic service and speeds from o2 for the past 6-7 years or so and I had a rock solid speed of 14-16mb constantly. I really would rather have stayed with O2 and can't tell you how disturbing this has been
Since movig my speed has gradually crept up from 1.5 on the day of the move  to 7mb this morning. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt as they said that my speeds will gradully increase over the 10 days training preiod. In the letter that I got they promised me 11-180 -
Just phoned up BE (O2) to cancel my broadband as was considering moving to BT as some good deals with them (£8 a month for 12 months and £40 Sainsbury card + £84 cashback with Top Cashback).
BE (who have been taken over by Sky) offered me free broadband and free TV for 12 months! They put me through to Sky who honoured the offer even though I am an existing sky customer. They are giving me free broadband and free Family Pack Extra (includes HD channels normally cost £31.50 a month) including a free sky box with 12 months warranty. Need to pay £119.50 upfront for 12 months line rental or £14.50 a month.0
