    Thank you artichoke.

You mean, like Birmingham, it doesn't get congested at times?

    thanks !

Times to avoid are roughly around 07:30-09:30 and then 16:00-18:30. That goes for most large towns or cities.

What sort of things interest you?

I know Leicestershire very well, as my sister-in-law lives there. There are some rather nice small towns around, such as Stamford, and you can take in Rutland Water. To be honest, the countryside in Leicestershire is unremarkable. It's not unpleasant by any stretch, and it does have its moments, but I have the North Yorkshire Moors within a short drive of my front door, so am spoilt!

As mentioned, if you are near Leicester train station, you can be in London St Pancras in no time at all. If your smart, you can pre book first class seats at very reasonable prices. Worth checking out!

    Enjoy yourself!

I need to jump in here...

They're closing the main road that runs through Birmingham from the middle of July until the start of September. Therefore... DO NOT DRIVE if you are looking to visit somewhere in the centre of Birmingham.

    Hi

You've got Bradgate Park, Belvoir Castle, Twinlakes if your travelling with little ones, Space centre (but in opinion it was rubbish), Bosworth battlefield, Great central railway, Twycross zoo.

Bradgate Park is a lovely place for a walk as is Beacon Hill. I also like Foxton Locks...you can go for a nice walk around then have lunch in the lovely pub

Monkey forest is a good day out as well and something a bit different:

Alton Towers is worth a visit as well if you like theme parks and it's easily doable as a day trip from Leicester...have a look online for discount offers first though because walk up prices are really expensive!
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!
