Hi people.
I am going to be on a holiday around Leicester during this Summer.
I am from Cyprus, but I am going to hire a car with my friend.
Wondering if anyone can suggest places that I can travel with my GPS assisted car....
Thank you
Thanasis

Close by - Nottingham (Robin Hood)
Birmingham (some good galleries and industrial stuff)
Further -
Oxford (ancient colleges etc - amazing to visit)
York (pretty, ancient city wall)
Bath (Roman spa town, stonehenge, avebury)
Also, leave the car behind and head to London for a night - There is no way to 'finish' London, it is tiring and expensive, but keeps on giving :-)0 -
Thank you sirs
"greenface" I am sure you know Cyprus you don't need any guidelines. If you need guidelines I am here....Thanks for the link...
paddyrg, Nottingham sounds a good idea. I googled for pictures and it looks like it has better landscapes than in Birmingham.....
Others are a bit distant.... Yes it bothers me using car in some of the cities ....The Michael Jackson´s Ministry

If you are staying in Leicester, a train to Birmingham can be as little as £10 (ish) return.... Much easier than driving into the city.Slimming world new starter 2/1/17

Thank you but I have already rented a car. So I prefer to have this experience !
I would be thankful if someone suggests me the hours to avoid driving in Birmingham in order not to be in the traffic jam....

Nottingham Queens Drive park and ride if you don't want to take car into the city. Postcode NG2 1AP for your SatNav.
For some nice countryside how about Derbyshire not too far try Chatsworth House, Bakewell or Buxton. Alternatively how about a visit to England's smallest county Rutland lovely area and large reservoir you can cycle/walk round. http://www.discover-rutland.co.uk/0 -
A bit nearer to Leicester, but still in glorious countryside...

Calke Abbey
"The un-stately home and country estate
With peeling paintwork and overgrown courtyards, Calke Abbey tells the story of the dramatic decline of a country house estate. The house and stables are little restored, with many abandoned areas vividly portraying a period in the 20th century when numerous country houses did not survive to tell their story.
Discover the tales of an eccentric family who amassed a vast collection of hidden treasures. Visit the beautiful, yet faded, walled gardens and explore the orangery, auricula theatre and the kitchen gardens. Escape into the ancient and fragile habitats of Calke Park and its National Nature Reserve."0 -

Times to avoid are roughly around 07:30-09:30 and then 16:00-18:30. That goes for most large towns or cities.
