I can't believe people are actually going to take advantage of a man dying to get free entry to the park, it's disgusting. The idea of the day is to remember Jim, if people don't know him/know of him and want a chance to say goodbye and pay tribute to him then they shouldn't go, it's just plain wrong. I happen to be a massive fan of Jim and all his work, I was absolutely gutted when he died, and i try to visit the park as often as possible and donate to them when i can, so this day is for people like me who genuinely want to pay their respects to a great man. I'm all for money saving but not in these circumstances! Ok rant over....I know most of the people who've posted are going/not going for the right reasons but i couldn't help feeling that a minority of people are just after a freebie at the expense of a dead man and abused apes!

loopy_laura if that was aimed at me then your very wrong and shouldnt jump down peoples throats without knowing the whole story!

I adopted a monkey for my girlfriend at christmas from Monkey World (Seamus) and we wanted to go and see him. Her mother also adopted a monkey (Sally) and wanted to go too.

They both watch the show on Animal Planet and are supporters of Monkey World.

Me and my girlfriend didnt go yesterday but we do still want to go at some point. Her mother did go though and took bags of fruit and blankets to donate to the monkeys. They had a nice time despite the crowds and the rain...

So in short laura dont jump to conclusions it just makes you look stupid ;)

No it wasn't aimed at you, or indeed anyone in particular! I just thought the whole idea that it had been posted on this website as an idea to save money was a bit wrong giving the nature of the day. Hope you didn't take offence, and i'm certainly not stupid so i resent that comment! Glad to meet a fellow monkey world fan, i've also adopted cheeky seamus!

I didn't make it down there in the end sadly because of the rain and the roads still being flooded. Do you know if the memorial is finished yet? I was in progress last time i was there, I guess it was probably due to be finished for yesterday.
