questions about my stolen vehicle

What has been said about the written statement and going to court? Are they implying they have concerns about it being uninsured?
I think your best option is to find a local solicitor, preferably one that deals with motoring law, but that's probably not necessary, and discuss it with them because there are probably nuances being missed.
they are saying they believe a friend of mine has taken car and sold it on for a profit they also want me to give a written statement at police station saying i did not give this person permission to sell it and possibly go to court.
but why would i have to go to court as far as im concerned my stolen car has been found i want it returned this is all0 -
If CID are involved, they are obviously carrying out an investigation to which your car is part of. Obviously as your 'friend' took you car and tried to sell it then that is a fraud/theft matter so a crime has been committed other than just the original TWOC.
Be prepared to be responsible for any recovery costs that were involved in finding your car. Your insurer's would normally cover those even with minimal cover. But as the car had no insurance you will need to pay for those charges yourself plus the police would only release the car when you produce a certificate of insurance relating to the car.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
It's probably because the car had been sold on, that it's now part of an ongoing investigation into the reselling of stolen cars, so it might be a while before it's returned.
I'm slightly confused though; if this car is such that it was uninsured on private land, didn't lock, and the keys were left in it (albeit hidden), then I'd assume it wasn't worth much. If it was I'd assume it'd be insured or secured. That being the case, if you need a car to get to get about long distance, wouldn't it be easier to go and buy another car for a couple hundred quid to run about until you get yours back and you can sell it on again?
Or was the lack of insurance just temporary?0 -
Was the car registered SORN ?
I would seek some legal advice, I have spotted something that a solicitor should have no trouble spotting, it could potentially be quite serious for you and this could be where the CID are heading.
And it is not to do with SORN or other civil matters.
Get some advice before making any statement.Be happy...;)0 -

This doesn't make sense, how did you lose your job due to the theft when the car was uninsured anyway?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Already asked. Do read the thread dear boy
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Nope, too busy doing other stuff too....
But if:ian_cromwell wrote: »it was stolen whilst on holiday
Then why didn't the insurance auto-renew? Don't all insurance companies now do this?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
