Why does he/she need to prove they returned it?? They received an item out of the blue from someone they've ordered from in the past.
Well if they have signed for it them there is proof it is delivered to them.
they have contacted the company to confirm they have the items
dumping them into the postal system, isnt a smart move in my opinion0 -

I agree, but I have their goods and I'm not paying up front to send them back.
They are very welcome to make their own arrangements for collection.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I stand by my original advice; don't worry about it until they decide to sort it out themselves.
The parcel contained an invoice identical to mine from last month. The item inside is totally unrelated to this.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

It was sent by Royal Mail tracked. I have supplied the Company with the tracking number so they know it has been delivered.
I agree dumping the parcel back in the system isn't very smart.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

No I wouldn't just put it in the post either now you've told them you have it. As others have said just tell them you have their item if they wish to collect it from you but after 30 days you will dispose of it as you see fit.0

If you want to be really clever send them a letter in writing advising of your intentions to dispose within 30 days without a stamp so you don't have to pay for it (they'll incur an extra charge at their end).
Oh and don't forget to mention there is a storage charge of £5 a day0 -
