Ebay parcel delivered in error.

I have received a parcel from an ebay company I ordered from a month ago. ( Not ordered by me sent using the address details from my old order)

It is an error on their part. I contacted them and they asked me to return it. No problem here. I gave them the price for tracked, insured signed for

I asked them to pay the postage up front. They have refused. They will refund me on receipt of the goods.

If I pay postage and the goods go missing. I am left with the hassle of making a claim.

Can I ask them to send me a pre paid label or for them to arrange collection?

So much hassle for being honest.

I would just leave it to them now to let you know how they will collect it and within a timeframe or the goods will go to charity. No way i'd pay the costs as well as the hassle for their mistake.

Yes. You are under no obligation to send it back at your own cost.

I would give them 30 days to either arrange for collection or send pp envelope - it makes me wonder if they have misunderstood the situation thinking you have ordered it and changed your mind as I cannot think why on earth they would expect you to pay to return something that you neither ordered nor paid for.

As everyone else says, just tell them you'll wait for them to make the arrangements as you're under no legal obligation. If they want the parcel back they can collect it themselves (working around your schedule of course).

Years ago I ordered a computer case from an online retailer. They accidentally sent me two! I never bothered telling them - not my obligation to spend on a phone call. They never contacted me so after several months I let a friend of mine have it.

Why does he/she need to prove they returned it?? They received an item out of the blue from someone they've ordered from in the past.
  • Someone called my company purporting to have goods which I have no proof of, and hence asking for money up front?

    Mexican standoff springs to mind.

Why can't they pay a courier to collect the parcel? Minimal hassle for OP and no risk to them.

True but there is bound to be an invoice number etc that the op could have given them over the phone to prove they have the goods.

I stand by my original advice; don't worry about it until they decide to sort it out themselves.
